i had a plate style cooler and my transmission expert removed it and replaced it with a tube and fin style. he said it was less likely to get stopped up.

get the biggest one you can find/fit/afford. something like RV style 30,000 btu.

someone, seems like silver_dodge ran some temperature tests with various coolers and towing something big. he said the small to medium sized produced little results for him and that he didn't get the results he wanted until he got up to 25-28-30K btu size.

Wow that's crazy. I don't have a temp Gauge on my Durango and I hauled around 4000# of metal for my buddy. My tranny didn't seem to get hot but I'm also not 100% sure

I installed 14k the other day, but have yet to tow or plow to see any results.

you can go to a junkyard and get any tube oil cooler for about 20 bucks. Then you can just put some tranny lines on it.

I am using a Hayde. Used them for years on a number of vehicles, and even my RV. They last forever, do not clog, and really cool fluid. 400 mile trip this week, and part of the time hauling a MF 240 tractor, trans temp wa sbetween 140 to 145 deg.
