I used supertech ATF+4 when I was topping mine off due to a leak. I also had the trans shop use it when I had them service it and replace the seal. So, it worked for me. lol

It is NOT 18 quarts. If you check the FSM, you will see that the quntity is listed in PINTS. There is a very specific episode whereas I learned that if you put in that many quarts, you will have ATF pouring out the vent in the front plate, pour onto the exhaust crossover pipe, and smoke like a big dog! I thought the back end of the truck was on fire! (and this was a total fill after a rebuild with an empty TC.)

4 to 6 if you are just dropping the pan.
