Default Weird tranny scenario...

I've been having two issues with shift timing lately. Hoping one of you guys have worked through something similar and can give me some insight.

1) Starting out in first truck will be very sluggish until up about 15mph (roughly 2K RPMs). Then will up-shift fine.

2) Truck will engage first gear fine, up-shift to second late (roughly 3,200 RPM). Sometimes, in order to get it to shift into second, I'll have to fully let off the throttle. Then, it will "search" for third. Typically, I'll kick it into neutral and back into Drive and it up-shifts fine thereafter.

If I start from 1 or 2, no issues. Full power and good shift into second.

Replaced the governor sensor and selinoid, changed fluid and filter about 3 months ago. This issue has been only going on for the past 2 weeks.

Seems like a pressure or electrical issue to me, but I cannot pinpoint it.

Thanks for the thoughts!

Getting any codes? Key trick should work on your truck.

I had that same problem. It lasted about 3 years. I did the check valve removal, tps, governor sensor and selinoid, changed fluid and filter, added a double deep maghytec pan. I already had the 10k towing trans cooler on there. When I was in overdrive at 70-75 on the highway I was pulling 2600+ rpms. Heck, I had 2k+ rpms from 50 on. Long story short after a year of this I broke down and had a local shop rebuild it with alto steels and a sonnex shift kit. It is awesome now. It cost 2500 for the rebuild which included a new TC and all new ujoints for both drive shafts. What originally happened in my case was I had larger tires (315's) with 3.55 gears for about 30k miles. That was enough to damage my trans. When I got the gears put in the truck moved great except I had to neutral switch almost all the time in order to switch gears and even then it would stick from time to time. Before the rebuild I did all the stuff mentioned above plus draining and refilling it myself every 10k miles. That got expensive.

What size tires are you running and what is your gear ratio?

Default Update: Issue solved

Well, after everything I tried and 2 shops suggesting rebuilds, I was able to fix the problem in about 5 minutes. It ended up being a very loose tv cable. Wish I would have thought about that a month ago! Truck is shifting perfectly.

Thanks for all the help, guys.
