Default coil spacer install/ lift shackle

okay i bought a 2.5 aluminum spacer from augiedoggy this past week.. should come in sometime before wednesday... he informed me that the aluminum spacer should be installed on the bottom of the coil spring? ive never heard of that, but do you guys have any info on that? same install process?
ive been looking around on here for install DIYs but there are some saying you disconnect a lot of the stuff like sway bar, track bar, blah blah.. and i see some people just jack it up on the frame and then jack up the differential, and coil compressors.. can that way work just as easy?

and i assume the shackle lift is easy as jacking up the rear end and unbolting the 2 screws on the shackle and simply replace them?

Not sure on the spacer, I always thought they went on top too......

Disconnecting sway bar allows the axle to drop some more, makes for easier spring removal. Shocks need to come out though....

Shackles are just the two bolts... but.... those two bolts have been under the truck for quite some time, and are not gonna be happy about coming off...... They like to hang on to the sleeves in the bushings, and sometimes you gotta cut 'em out with a torch.... Hit them with chemicals a few times over the course of a day or three before you actually want to remove them.

It is always good to have spare bushings for the shackle on hand, cause sometimes like heyyou said you have to cut them out.

So you bought spacers that were on a 4x4 for a 4x2 ? Good luck with that.

no he accidentally bought the spacer for a 4x2 but he has a 4x4, so he couldn't use them.

i looked back there and nothing looks rusted at all, almost like new. gotta remember this has been garage kept since 99 and only has 83,xxx miles. but i will look for some extra bushings online. and i'm going to need an alignment after won't i?

Yep, alignment would be a good idea.

All you need is a $14 mc phearson strut/spring compressor kit from harbor freight.... I installed the correct ones in my truck this way a couple weeks ago... I didnt need to take anything else apart although it would possibly make it easier...
the acacer is the solid aluminum horseshoe shaped ones that will slip in between the bottom support and the spring...depending on where you position them against the bottom of thespring provides 2 to 2.5 inches of lift... and yes alignment is needed...should run between $50 and 75 for that..

here is basically what I just sold you...(only for a lot less )

yeah a lot less

so the shackles look like they come with new bushings correct? therefor i won't need to order new ones.. and i just called autozone and said i could rent a coil spring compressor for free haha. now i guess all i need to do is attempt to install them.
you said according to the position it should be 2-2.5", do you know which position it should be in order to get 2.5"

you will be able to tell basically the bottom has the end of the coil... the further from the end of the coil spring end the less lift... and yeah they shckles have bushings but not the bushings that are inside the coil spring end... just use lots of penetrating oil...I would start spraying now and letting it soak in.
