Make you think your plenum gasket is blown.

Bad valve either sticks shut, in which case you blow out gaskets.... or, sticks open, in which event, you suck lots of oil. Wrong flow rate can cause excessive oil consumption as well.

No, not really.... aside from replacing it, again... or having a bunch of expensive equipment.

a bad PCV would put oil in the intake, just a small amount and tick.. lol.. if you bought it from the dealer, take it to the dealer and see if a mechanic will just listen to see if it sounds like its working properly since you think it might be bad, wont (or shouldnt..) charge you anything for it..

Could it also be that you have something else going on with the engine to cause the pvc to frantically open and close and tap hard in the housing like its doing like serious blowby pressure? the pvc is just a check valve of sorts.

I suppose it could somehow be defective and too loose but honestly its a metal slug of a preditermined weight designed to lift and drop inside the plastic housing allowing air to flow one way... thats it... if its ticking maybe there is something funky going on with the flow its trying to control...

when they wear out they usually either leak or stick...

EDIT*** just did a quick search...apparently its common for new ones to sometimes do this as they break in...others said they just replaced them and the ticking went away with replacementso....
at least you know its working and not sticking
