also is the .68-.81 A/R for the compressor or the turbine. The site above has different A/R for the compressor and the turbine.

My advice after reading through this is for you to stay NA (all motor), you're in over you head here.

You can learn by doing an NA build that's suited for a power adder, but I would not touch a turbo, it's out of my comfort zone even though I've been modding these things for years.

Here's my new 408...It's a nitrous motor when I want it to be. It's in my Dakota.

My dad would let me do a turbo before just modding the motor just for the fact that if something doesn't work out I can unhook it all and get rid of it. But Im not to worried about that. But that is a sweet motor.

Our motors actually love boost. crappy compression actually is better for cramming more air into the cylinders. But like a few of these guys said, this isn't going to be easy, or by any means cheap. A good build can take over a year. Seriously, ALL turbo set ups are pretty much the same. It's the tuning that will kill you. You don't seem to be knowledgeable enough to do a street tune, which is like trying to find your A/F ratio by smell, or tire pressure by ride height. That guy put the pic of his motor to probably prove that you need to be able to understand how to build a good N/A motor before you start blowing your college fund on a bunch of parts, and hoping it all comes together. You have to understand where Hans and these other guys are coming from. Everyday on every forum there is a new guy who basically asks, "How can I get crazy amounts of power, with reliability and with little cost". The truth is you can't. You will spend at least $5000 on this. Your gonna need two exhaust manifolds if you want dual. These won't be cheap, your gonna want something cast iron. I guess remote is the best option. Forget any crap china charger or ebay charger. Check out Precision (the best) or Garrett. Ball-bearing, water cooled and oil fed. Stand alone ECU is your best bet, but your gonna need injectors, and maybe a better fuel pump? I'm not sure what the stock one is capable of. IF you get all this together, then its time to take it to the dyno. You best hope that the shop has worked on a boosted Magnum before bc they are going to rape you on tuning it. Also, you gotta think about the tranny, do you have a 5sp or an automatic? I can tell you the auto is gonna be unreliable for the amount of power that comes out of no where with a turbo. Your gonna have lag no matter what. A small turbo will spool faster, but you lose top end power, a big turbo is the opposite.

Default 5.9l gas engine differences between 1500 and 2500s?

I have started looking at a few performance upgrades for my 1999 2500 Ram and have noticed there are parts and kits available for the 1500s but not the 2500s. What is the big differences between the two?

My 2500 has about 200,000 miles of hauling water so I have been beginning considering making some upgrades. I have been noticing some power loss with my 1999 so after healing from back surgery I will start looking into it to see what I can do with it. With a daughter in college unfortunately a slightly used deisel ram is temporarily out of the question.

Any tips or suggestions would be great. THANKS!

No difference as far as engine/trans go. Buy stuff for the 1500, and it will bolt right on.

With 200K on the clock, a rebuild should be the first order of business.
