Default How do you take the cluch fan off???

My water pump crapped the bed and like a goof I took the pump off with the clutch fan still on. What do i need to do to take the fan off the old pump? From the look of things it's just pressed on there.
Thanks
By the way I did do a search.

You have to unscrew the big nut. Hold the WP pulley from spinning and use a large crescent wrench. have you downloaded the 01 service manual? And I hope you didn't damage the TC cover gasket.

if you go to harbor freight right now, they have a 2 piece strap wrench with lifetime warranty on sale for 3.99. That'll hold the pulley while you use a wrench or large cresent to take the nut off.I just picked me up a set yesterday for the same reason

I had to buy the odd tool with 2 pegs to hold the pump pulley still, then used a large wrench to remove the fan. It is threaded normally, not reverse BTW, I just went through removing mine 2 months ago with an E-fan install.

since you are replacing the water pump anyway, just put it in that vice and pinch it to prevent it from turning. then unscrew the big fan nut.

i did the same thing, on purpose. i couldn't get the fan off while in the truck so i just unbolted the water pump with the damn fan still attached.

If you don't have a way to hold the pulley still, put a wrench on it and hit it with a hammer, it may take a few tries but the shock will break it loose.

It doesn't need to be cranked down, the rotation of a running engine will do that by itself.
