Definately a mounted winch. No doubt about that.

thanks, do you by any chance know any stealth winch receiver, or a "cheap" winch bumper, or any other set ups?

When it comes to winches and mounting them, cheap and reliable do not go together unfortunately.

Cheapest way to do it is fab it yourself or have a friend who's handy with a welder do you a favor.

They make front mount receiver hitches for our trucks, and they also make receiver winch mounts. Run the wires correctly, and you can use your winch from either end of the truck. Also, if you aren't going to be needing it, you can take it off, and not have that 100 or so pounds of weight hanging off the front of the truck..

Detroit locker is a good one. ARB I think makes a selectable locker for the 9 1/4??? I think......

Problem with a hitch mounted winch is the the fact that that one pin carries all that load. I've never heard of anyone actually having issues with a hitch mounted setup, I just personally wouldn't be extra comfortable with it.

Folks tow there several thousand pound trailers which also concentrate all the weight on that one pin as well..... I don't think I have ever seen one fail.

find a donor axle, sas it, run leaf springs, much easier than dealing with a link/coils triangulation. tcase and shafts from a 4x and your done. no biggie right! ;-)
