Default 1994-97 Vs 1998-01 5.2L

I am looking at swapping out my 1996 5.2L Magnum (spun bearing). What is the difference between the 1994-97 5.2L engines and the 1998-01 5.2L engines?

The number of coolant temp sensors...... that's about it. Oh, and 96 and up don't have EGR.

ANY 5.2 from 94 to 01 will work. Just transfer your intake, and various other sensors to the new engine. (to include the injectors, I think those changed at some point as well.)

yup theres a divider in the 97 and older intakes as well and the newer...( 99 up? ) rams used different injectors with a different connector... some of the sensors are different too... like the ones on the throttlebody which have different connectors...

So, if I remove the intake from my old engine and place it on a newer engine (up to a 2001 model) I shouldn't have any problems and be ok...correct?

Yep. Replace the lower pan gasket and plate also on the manifold. Read the plenum sticky on top of the forum. At the very least replace the gasket with a Felpro and cut the bolts shorter.

Necessary.

Not necessary.

I'd rather have the bottom end torque that the stock kegger encourages than the attempt at higher RPM hp that the "kegger mod" is.

Default Back to original

My goal is to return the truck back to factory original as much as possible. Therefore, I'm looking for a 1994-2001 318 (5.2L) with as few miles as possible that has a cost as low as is possible that is in great condition. Know where I can find one?
