Default 2001 Engine Swap

Hey Guys,
Once again, been a while since I have been on here but I guess it is a good thing since I come on here for advice with problems. Well this time I have a BIG problem. My 5.2 318 blew up last tuesday. A friend of mine was driving the truck following me in my big tractor trailer. We were on the turnpike and the oil pressure went to 0. Before he could pull over because we were in a construction zone and shoulders were closed, the engine shut down and it was over. Engine is gone.
So, my question is, I have found a guy that has the engine, (auto) tranny and transfer case out of a 97 dodge 1500. Only has 28,000 so he says. I have to go and look at everything. Wants a grand for it all. If it is what he says, I have no problem forking over the money. But I just wanted to ask you guys if everything will match up. I am sure all the mounts and stuff will be ok. But wanted to make sure that all electrical connections will match up to mine.
I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport 4x4 Quad Cab. So just wanted to check. I use to do engine swaps all the time and this should not be bad for me. Me and a friend should be able to do it without much problems.
Let me know.
Thanks

The engine will swap fine. Use the flexplate from the 360 and swap over your 97 intake manifold(fix the plenum while its off). The tranny will not work without replacing the electronics inside the pan and the Governor body. And IIRC the transfer case will have a different shift pattern, so stick with your tranny and transfer case.

Pull the intake off of your motor, and transplant it to the new motor. Some sensors are different, along with injector connectors.

Hey guys. Ok, first zman, my truck has a 318 in it and the one I am thinking of buying is a 318 from a 97 truck.
As far as the intake, maybe I will have to purchase another one or some new parts. My truck has been plowed for the last 4 years and I also do alot of surf fishing and bringing my truck out on the NJ beaches. Needless to say, things are rusting up. And the fuel rails on the intake on my engine are very bad to say the least. So if you are saying I cannot use the one off the 97, then I will have to purchase one or get new parts for mine.
I believe that everything on my tranny and transfer case is working good so I could re use them. Anything else I should know or look out for.
while I am looking for an engine, if I want everything to fit up perfectly to mine and use another intake, what years should I be looking at besides my own???

I think only 2000, 01, and possibly 02 (out of 3/4 or 1 ton) will drop right in, and hook right up.
