So I just bought a motor from a buddy of mine it's the 5.2 out of a 98 that I'm gonna drop in my truck bc my rings are messed up and this is just gonna be easier to build and do the swap over the weekend. Then I'm gonna rebuild the one in my truck and drop it in my offroad toy. But just trying to see what y'all would suggest I do to the motor before I drop it in my truck. The truck is a daily driver truck and will be my tow rig for my toy (jeep). So I'd like to have good amount of power (plan on doing gears) but what's some stuff Yale would suggest to do to the engine. Like I said the motor will be out of the truck so all upgrades should be easier to do.

Double roller timing chain with the HS Rockers, maybe airgap if you want to drop that much into it. No way would I do this without replacing water pump as well, and throw on an e-fan.
How's the tranny? Add tranny cooler, check valve delete, remote filter.

Old motor trying to make it last forever it's got 112000 on it my tranny is just been rebuilt 10000 mile ago planned on doing plneum and wires etc. Compression is perfect. What's hs 1.7? I'll spend some good money on it to make it last but just remember I'm not building a race motor just a daily driver tow rig that I wanna gain some power out of.

+1 on the Odessa Heads. Probably the best bang for the buck. HS rockers will improve performance, but not necessarily make it last longer. Same with airgap and tune. Double Roller timing set (about $58) will not only help overall performance, but it will last longer than a new Morse chain.
The HS rockers (about $350), the airgap, and the tune ($265) will make it perform better and therefore increas owner satisfaction with your Ram.
If money is the concern, start with the heads, plenum, and timing set, and of course a new water pump and probably new oil pump to be safe. The other items can be added as you can afford it. If you do the plenum plate and later go with the air gap, I know you can sell the old intake to another Ram owner - as soon as you educate him about the plenum issue and get him to look inside his intake!
