Okay dude, I already tried that. I can easily convert the 35x1250x17. HOWEVER, that will convert that actual data, not give me a common metric tire in a SIMILAR size.

example:
http://www.redrock4x4.com/tireconver...Name=Calculate

35x12.50/17 = 318/72/17 = not a size that does me any good...

gdstock,
That also won't be of much help, because these rims did not come with the truck. The truck has a lift and I picked these rims up off a local 4x4 website (as stated above).

I also believe they are 8 inches wide, but I can't find any actual data confirming this. I know the 16" version is 8" wide, but I can't find that info on the 17" version.

If it is 8" wide, what width tire should I be able to run before it starts giving me issues? Is a 12.50 too wide for an 8" rim? I'm not incredibly versed in tires, so please forgive my ignorance.

They are indeed 17X8.

Most tire manufacturers will have a 'recommended rim width' for their tires. You can go a bit smaller..... but, I wouldn't go much smaller than recommended.....

If the converter said 318/72/17 then 315/70/17 will be closest.

They are 8 inches wide. So just check out a tire chart and pick the tires you want
