help with axle seals
Doin front axle seals on my truck wanted to know if anyone knew of and write ups on how to replace em, or could someone just explain what i got to do. Thanks
4x4? If so..... axle seals are a right pain... gotta completely disassemble the axle..... tires/wheels, hub/bearings, pull the axles, cad housing, cover, differential itself... drivers side seal is in there..... passenger side seal is got at thru the cad housing hole.
Procedure is in the service manual. (you did download one from the faq section, right?

Ok well in doing a locking hub swap so knuckles, n shafts are out, putting new bjs in and u joints, the only one leaking is my passenger side, do i need a spreader for the housing to get carrier out? I've heard that i do and i don't.
You might or might not need a spreader. Sherrif420 used a come along to pull his out, and some will just fall out. My 98 just came out when I did the driver side seal. No spreader or pulling.
kinda interested in knowing if there is a write up for this as well. my front axle seals are leaking too, and other than knowing i have to completely disassemble everything, id kinda like a write-up and pics, that i can go by.

You need no special tool for the driver side. You just have to take the whole diff apart to replace it. Then you'll need the special tool to install the passenger side seal. Which I have. I can help redneck with this, but he does everything without a manual. LOL, JK bud.
If you need help, I'm available like in the past.
