Default Need some transmission advise asap (help)

I am nearing the completion of my 1st transmission overhaul and I am about to install the valvebody.

My truck is a 94 2wd with a A518 TRANS, from what I have read that converts to a 46RH.

I need to install the accumulator piston and spring or springs???? The book says for a 46RH you will have two. (see pictures provided) Mine only had 1 (see picture) did they make a change or do i have a problem and need to get the inner one? I'm thinking just put it back the way it came apart BUT....

Question 2 is the spring in the accumulator housing on the valve body.
(not the 1 mentioned above in the trans.case). My spring was broken in 3 pieces. I went to the junk yard yesterday and looked at 4 of them and they all were broken?? I found another that was a 95 2wd auto 46rh with a good spring but it was not as heavy duty. a little longer but not as heavy. Will this be OK?? My thought was better then a broken one..

Hoping to get some answers so I can complete this job.. By the way if it wasn't for this sight I would never of been able to do this job.. THANKS....

NOTE: Says 46RH uses 2 springs. Mine only has the large outer one...

Broken spring. saw 4 in the junk yard the same way. I found one that was a little longer but not as stiff or as heavy. (will it work?)

Check the parts stores, and see if you can get new ones....

I think in some trannies, it didn't have one of the springs..... not 100% on that though.

Are you not putting in a shift kit? I think Transgo shift kits for an RH replace that. Superior also for that matter.

Shift kit isn't JUST for performance vehicles. They also tend to correct some of the sloppiness built in from the factory, to give it that "smooth" feeling.... most shift kits will also give you the ability to check your fluid in Park..... and get an accurate reading... They help with trans longevity as well.

A Transgo or at the least a Sure Cure kit should be installed.

The FAQ/DIY section also has some great diagrams and info on how to install a shift kit. How to rebuild a tranny and what to use for parts too for that matter.

Thanks Guys.. You can always count on a Yankee fan..
Went to see Matsui a few times this week down here in NC with the Durham Bulls (AAA for the Rays) I was glad to get a few autographs.

Hey if I can get another 150k out of this truck I would be very happy. Thinking about the sure kit but being I have the Trans completed, all but the VB. Not looking to dig back into the trans. Been looking all day for more info on the install but very limited. Going to my local Dacco Trans shop on Tues. for parts price & availability.

Thanks Again.

You can always come back in and drop the VB and put the sure cure kit in. OIther than drilling one hole in the pressure plate, it is all changing spools and springs.
