Just think how many ponies a 5 point harness will get ya!

Do you have to push the pedal all the way to the floor before it has any life in OD?

On a trip to/from Atlanta a few month's ago I did some passing on flat highway with OD on and I've noticed that if you're just gently applying more throttle my truck would pickup speed accordingly, but if you wanna straight up pass someone I had to drop the hammer, not to the floor but you get the idea.....

I'll bet it's probably normal.

You can also take out large parts of your dash to save weight. That's what I did.

Am i wrong to expect that with a small throttle blip it should pop out of od?

Anways...called dealership and they said new TPS WAS $150....seriously? Seems like a huge ripoff.
what you describe is how a tps with a sort of dead spot acts. (or - an out of adjustment TV cable).
get a replacement TPS at any non-dealer parts store for $40-50. keep your old one in the event that its not the problem. its good to have a spare.

I just got done buying a Borg Warner (BWD) brand TPS from oreilly's 3 days ago, and it was 36.99 with a lifetime warranty. If you're not like me, and install it correctly the first time, it seems to work perfectly fine.

Oh, and I almost covered my comp screen with beer spray, reading 2x1972's "remove large parts of the dash to save weight". Hilarious...sorry bout your dash though, lol.

Hey, Ive already done the "remove large pcs of dash mod but I still have the same problem as the orignal poster. bekins01ram, why did you install a new tps?
I have a 01 1500 ORE with stock tires and a 5.9 auto. I thought about replaceing the gov pressure solinoid to see if it will help it kick down better. I have adjusted the tv cable and even set it a little to the performance side, but like the OP, in Od you have to mash it way down to get it to kick down and hen it goes all the way to 2nd...

This is exactly what is happening. Completely gutless on the HW on OD unless you (almost) pin it, then it downshifts and you get power.

yeah killed my tps(one week old), warranty at orielys worth the lifetime bwd. sounded like grinding on the inside. if you are wanting to pass instantly, just use the od off button. push pedal and go. that is the easy way of passing every body or just the dumb people driving slow.

I put a new TPS and IAC motor on, due to crazy surging on a cold start. And randomly surging idle, while sitting at red lights. The IAC alone didn't fix it, but after the TPS, my idle is not being all crazy like it was.

But I don't have y'alls passing problems...Mine's a 5 speed, so I just drop it into 4th, and make the pass. If I'm angry driving, drop to 3rd and make the pass, lol. It pulls hard in 3rd gear at around 60 on the interstate. My buddy and his '99 with the 360 and auto tranny, tried to get me on the interstate a few weeks back. We were both cruising at 60, then I dropped to 3rd and mashed the gas. He mashed his gas pedal to the floor, and probably dropped to 4th, but I was a couple car lengths ahead, by the time I finally put it in 4th, and kept on truckin', LOL. I love my 5 speed. I'll give 'em he's on 35's with stock gears, but the lil 318 ate 'em up.
