Ok, so I am new to the V10...but I've been turning wrenches for 30 years. During my hunt for data on the web I came across a list some guy made in 2004. I am looking to make this Ram of mine the best it can be, so let me know what you all think of this list. If it has been shared before then I apologize for redundancy...be well:

I think KRC performance is gone now.

Some of the parts are probably discontinued as well... (like the supercharger kits. possibly some of the cams....)

Someone actually made a performance intake for the truck 10? Really? That would be interesting to see.

The 10 is already a stump puller...... Seems to me with just headers, good exhaust, and a good tune, you could squeeze some more ponies out of it.

What year is your truck? (should but all the info about it in your sig. )

Mine's a '94...Not really looking to blow her up with mods...but I'm the kind of guy who ripped an old XBOX 360 apart for the cooling heat sinks and then epoxied them to my ATI video card to get 3 degrees cooler running temps....Since it is the first production year and she looks so damn nice; I just want to keep her alive and the more avenues I have for parts or aftermarket goodies the better.

I am familiar with that philosophy.

Help it breath first. Headers, good Y-pipe, or even true duals. I think you only have one O2 sensor to contend with? Go with at least 2.5 inch pipe on duals. I think just doing that alone will make a noticeable difference.

The problem you are going to run in to is, once you start moving past bolt-ons, you are going to need to clue in the PCM as to what's up, and how to play nice with the new toys. OBDI (which you have) aren't flash programmable, you are going to have to send it out to have it tuned, and that runs right around 250.00 a pop. A standalone system that is easily programmable with a laptop, and the right cable might be cheaper in the long run. (not to mention you can custom tune your engine yourself, while looking at all the live data. That's a nice perk.)

Actually all my research paid off! I just got an email this morning from a fellow who can burn a chip for the OBDI PCM....You think true duals would be better than 2 into 1? With or without a crossover? I hear Magnums like a bit of pressure, (although the 10 is just Magnum parts in a fancy Y block). I am in the works to replace the "submarine" size muffler and I'm debating a performance 2into1 like Magnaflow, or running glasspacks individually. I don't want to contend with running straight pipes so poppers in front of the rear wheels would be nice. I don't want to be arrogant; but I like a little noise...

Here's the email...

Hi Brian,

Thanks for your email. We do have some options available for your Ram 2500 with the 8L V10. We would highly suggest going with our X3 chip with O2 sensor control.

The X3 chip has the following benefits:

1. LED indicator light
2. Best tuning curves and maps
3. Auto adjusting control for seamless switching between power/economy modes 4. Oxygen sensor control to have more control over the ECU chip

Currently that product is on sale for $149.00, so it is a great time to buy. We also have our base level X2 chip available for $69.99. If you have any other questions please let us know.

Sincerely,

Engine Performance Chip

What do you think? Never heard of these guys...

Snake oil. While it may make some difference, all it is doing is fooling the engine into thinking the intake is cooler than it really is, and intercepting the O2 signal, so the PCM won't figure out that it actually isn't, and compensate for it. Their claims are outrageously inflated. (also note, it says "Up To" 20% power increase..... leaves them lots of wiggle room against false advertising lawsuits.)

Not a good solution.

I would just go with the standalone computer from Megasquirt... lots of headaches can be solved with a little extra cash.

I didn't think so either. Unless I can get a programmer for the OBDI; then I am not even going to mess around with the PCM. I've never been a fan of throwing chips around to begin with...if I don't need a breaker bar to get it out...it ain't quality! I'm gonna keep her stock and if I want performance (which means speed) I'll hook a beaver tail up and tow the Porsche to the track!
