^^^I know I linked them several times too... But since then I have read bad things about their re-man's. Things like bad tolerances, mains not torqued right, cylinder bores showing major wear out of the crate... Be careful. That goes for any motor rebuild though, especially when we are talking on a budget.

Budget vs. Quality. It becomes very confusing and conflicting in hurry

Here is my take on it. Even when getting a long block all your going to get is stock style heads. So your still going to have the cracking issues. So if it was me and I was in your position I would find a short block and then get a pair of EQ heads from Clearwater heads or Oasis I think is thier name. They both sell the same heads and you can find them on Ebay. The EQ heads are a new casting and don't have the cracking issues. Not saving you much if any money but you'll have a good engine when your done.
Have any links handy by chance? I'm having trouble finding any info through searching here and using google

Same heads you're talking about? http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-EQ-IRON-...0515e4&vxp=mtr

Not that I know of. Anyone know? I did have a mechanic install it but I don't recall anything in the paperwork saying it had to be done by a shop or mechanic.

Depends on the company you get it from..... some won't warranty a 'self installed' motor. (unless you are a certified mechanic....) others will warranty the motor, but, won't pay labor to swap it again, should it become necessary. Still others don't care one way or the other. Read the warranty information very carefully.

Yea, but also go into their store and check out all the options. They sell the better casted heads in many configurations, with different sized valves and such. I can't look at the link you posted, so I don't know which one it is, but they vary in price quite a bit last I checked. Just wanna make sure you get the right thing for what you are doing

Clearwater Heads

Just ask for EQ heads. Yes your going to pay a little more but they are worth it.

I'll do some looking for a short block later.

Here are some TAKE OUT engines from Ebay. It is another option.

Odessa doesn't have a web page like Clearwater they only have their Ebay store. Because of the engine I want to build I sprang extra money for the Monster EQ heads with the large valves. Here in the next month I hope to be telling everyone what I think of them.

I don't know if this link will work but here is a link to ATK's PDF file.
http://atkvege.com/content/images//engines033012.pdf

Page 80 is where the 5.9 engines start.

http://atkvege.com/content/index.php...uild-Sheet.php

Or you can go here and download the whole catalog and them scrowl down to pg 80.
ATK is a very well know company so if I was getting a remman engine I would go with these guys or someone like them. If you decide to get a takeout engine try to find a yard close to home. You have tons of options you just need to decide how you want to go about it and run with it from there.

Also from ATK if you click Performance engines you can get a 290HP/385FTlbs Torque engine for $4,700.
