Can you imagine how much that would weigh? We would lost like 2 mpg just in the dash.
Nah, I remember my grandparent's old Jeep Land Cruiser (the real ones), it had a metal dash, it wasn't real thick metal, probably around 1/16" to 1/8" thick I would guess...
Besides, we don't drive these trucks for their great mileage

You don't drive it for the mileage? I thought everyone did!
Maybe someone should make a brushed aluminum dash...
Most newer dash boards are made out of abs plastic and then they are warped in a vinyl or have a rubberized coating applied to them to make them stronger, our dodge dashes have neither.
guess I'm just lucky....my dash ain't cracked and I don't armor spray it either...It gets plenty of dust coating though! lol...I do usually park in the shade, and its rarely very hot around here.
^^ I never even HEARD about a dodge truck with a cracked dash till I moved down here. In western WA 2nd gen's are still nice trucks. Completely different market.

yeah, we just have to deal with our trucks turning green!
