Unhappy Wont start when hot 1998 Ram 1500 5.2L

This happened to me a few times already. The truck will start fine, but after running awhile and shutting it off, Sometimes it will start again. It cranks, but will not start. Sometimes I had to wait 1/2 hour or more before it will start. Not sure if it is fuel or spark. The check engine light will come on often too. I haven't really check anything out yet, but where should I start?

Check the pick up coil (cam sensor) also. How to check Im not sure but a friend of mine had the same problem several years ago with his car and that was the culprit.

find out the CEL codes. stop at any auto parts store and they'll read them for free.
write down the actual codes(s) number - like P0303 or P1689 and post here.

get the code number, don't come back with a vague description... something about an O2.. that won't help at all.

Default wont start when hot

I am going to buy a scan tool. Been holding off for years, but I do think I need one. I will pull the codes.

Any ideas on how to rest my airbag light? Last year I pulled my dash to replace my heater core and by mistake I cut my wires to the air bag. I spliced them together, but the airbag light stays on. I even swapped the wires around thinking I spliced them wrong.

Grab the 01 service manual from the faq section here, and see if you can figger out which wires you cut.....

Did you pull the steering column out when you were working on the dash??

If you didn't disconnect your battery you may have blown a/some fuse(s). I would pull all fuses related to your problem and check them. You could have shorted out the air bag as well. At the dealership a mechanic next to me did something similar while working on a chevy cavalier and BOOOOM the air bags blew and blew out the windshield. Be very careful around air bags.

How do I pull the fuse for Airbags. Looks like the fuse is locked into place with a cover.
