Flush the cooler and lines while you are waiting.

How big is the cooler your using? I ask cause I've also bypassed the radiator and run this cooler: http://www.jegs.com/i/Flex-a-lite/400/3826/10002/-1
I see temps at about 150 on the freeway and driving around in the city stop and go it hits 180, but eventually cools off. I have also deleted the check valve and put an aluminum trans. pan on.

Running 210 for a short period won't hurt anything. I went wheeling last month got a little stuck and eventually got out and was at 240 on temp. Let it idle for a while in Neutral and it cooled off and continued my day. Oh and I got 200k miles on my 46re transmission. I simply change the fluid as needed.

i think i figured out why my tranny runs hotter. i need smaller tires or higher gears. I am running almost 33"s with the stock 3.55 gears in the d60. It does fine when im not pulling a load but anything over 1k and driving in the city it starts running hot. I am going to start saving up for some 4.10's. I am almost 100% sure that is my problem. anyone else wanna chime in?

FYI 10,000 GVW is what you would run in a small compact car lol.

You need a 22,000 GVW or larger cooler for these transmissions. Also if you have bigger tires and small gears your transmission will overheat... Thats why you see a lot of Ford owners burn their tranny's up because they put gigantic tires on and the gearing is small, and the transmissions burn up.

Im running a hayden cooler, and its the 3 Loop cooler rated at 22,000 GVW... Im not sure what my tranny temp is running at tho as i dont have a gauge installed but its bypassed the main radiator, and my Jeeps temp warning light for the tranny has never come on

Check to see if the check valve is working or not.. Unhook the rubber line coming out from the cooler have someone hold it in a bucket or position it as best as you can.. Turn the truck on put it into neutral and then flip it off.. See if tranny fluid came out

I have already deleted the check valve. The specs i gave on that cooler may be incorrect. It was the largest one they offered, meant for a RV.

This is what im running, sorry bout the grill being in the way lol, btw its Jeep yea but its got the 5.9 and 46re, I've been thinking of getting a better one, this one is like basic IMO, and the previous owner kind attached it a little low so the full thing doesnt show "if that matters ?" I might get one of those fun style coolers they are supposedly better then the tube style.

My only concern sorta is that the previous owner bypassed the main rad and the tubes have been sitting open to the elements so i drive in the winter with it bypassed. I know the tranny does get warm/hot as i drove 5 minutes and felt it but i dunno
