Default Tranny running hot

So ive been driving for a week or so with this trans tenp gauge and its always hovered around 175 deg. Buy today it rose to 200 and wouldnt kept climbing had i not stopped. I wasnt carrying a load and i was driving in the coty with the od off. I didnt even stop at any traffic lights, kept a pretty constant speed of 45 mph. So whats the deal here? Is mu one transmission cooler not enough since its bypasses the radiator?

Have you checked your tranny fluid? Maybe you have a leak. Post up what cooler you put in. It may not have enough cooling capacity to cool the transmission fluid as compared with the radiator.

Nuke the check valve first. You can just drill it out, and then blow the car out of the hose, (don't forget the spring) and reinstall it. See if that makes a difference. (I bet it will)

so check valve delete did not fix the issue. I am hoping that a fluid and filter change may help that. There is no telling what the po put in it for fluid. I would like to change the governor and selonoid while im at it. I recall seeing a certain brand recommended several times but it slips my mind right now and i cant seem to find it through a search. anything else i should do while i have the pan off? besides adding a drain plug.

edit: the brand was borg warner right? also im guessing i have a 46re?

is it just me or has diesel manor lost their minds? I knew that the fitting was about $30 but then they want almost $14 for shipping. It will fit in a envelope for gods sake. The smallest flate rate box at USPS has 8x the room it would need and those are $5 shipped.

Yeah, but, you are forgetting the 'handling' charge.... those guys get dollars per second..... It's indeed insane.

Borg Warner is correct. You do have a 46RE.
