P.S.- this is from a dakota but should be close enough to modify for a ram.

I can only imagine how hard it must be to get in the engine bay with a "grill" mounted on the front of any vehicle. I decided to go with a "grille" myself,

"D-O-D-G-E, I drive a dodge cuse I can't spell chevrolet"
Jerks, and its a joke I hate hevys,
But since none has any fabracation imagination, ill share my plan I'm gona cut the lip off of the hood and the substructure gold three skin down and tack it down to the sub structure and box it in so it will fall and sit flush with the grille like any other vehicle, and make brakets to mount the grille to the coresupport and bumper

Again, why go to all this trouble? I have suspicions the guard is installed incorrectly and you're going to hate working on anything under the hood.

I see TONS of Rams with guards on them...and none of them have a fabricated fixed grill in front of the hood. Why is your guard so different?

No, everyone told you it was a bad idea, and that you should do it right. If it's that close to the grille it's too close to perform it's function. Besides, moving the grille from the hood to the core support is hardly fabricating

If you have 6 inches of distance how is the grille contacting it? Maybe pictures would help.
