That's a bit high, but, probably not the problem. (from what I can find, spec is 3 to 6 ohms....)

Can you move the clutch by hand??

yes.And I took the front of it off to make sure it wasn't gummed up or anything.
I just now tried hooking it directly to the battery again, and no reaction at all...

not that i have noticed.I just tried putting some wood shims in between the compressor clutch plates to "engage" it, and the ac blew cool air, but the low side pressure went to 150+ ....

Sounds like you have more than one problem going on there....... I think figgerin' out the compressor first, and taking it from there is gonna be the hot ticket. Gotta have 12 volts on one side, and ground on the other. If you have both of those, then the clutch becomes suspect..... at that point, I would seriously consider taking it to a shop, having the refrigerant recovered, and cracking open the system, and see what you find. If low side pressure is getting that high, you are either over-charged, or, the orifice tube is plugged with something.... usually it's metal shavings from the compressor eating itself up....

I'm still having same problem as rjs111. A/c clutch engages and blows cold for 10 to 20 minutes, then compressor clutch disengages and back to no air. Tried jumping low and high pressure switches, got nothing. If i let it sit turned off for half hour, it will start out blowing cold again. Low side pressure was like 43 , high side 220 when compressor clutch was engaged. Everything works like it should when it works..
Going back to Dr. will let you know what and how much....
