Unhappy Oh No, Do I Have The Death Flash?

So I have a 01 1500 4x4 with a 5.2 . It has about 111,000 miles and runs good and dosen't leak. I know the plenum is bad and I'm getting the kit from Hughes to fix it over the summer. But a new problem has risin. Yesterday I started my truck, pulled from the garage to the side of my house and sat there ideling till my dad came out so we ould go. All of a sudden my air bag light came on, my abs light came on, I lost my rpm gauge, then where my miles show it came up saying "no buS" then the engine light came on and I lost my fuel gauge, then the sound that comes on when you open the door sounded, I shut it off and than turned it back on. It was fine till half way down the road and did it again, I lost all my gauges for a cople seconds then they came back. I'm worried about this so I talked to my fav local mechanic and he said that it sounds like to him that in our trucks the computer is crap and the board in the computer starts to warp and crack and causes that to happen and leads to the truck not starting. Is this the death flash and what do I need to do to fix it...new computer, reflash..what???? Thanks....Joe

Death flash was dodges answer to a engine with excessive spark knock. It's a separate issue from what you are experiencing.

No Bus comes up when the cluster loses communication with the Central Timer Module. (that part that sends all the pertinent information to the cluster for it to display.) Could be as simple as a loose connection somewhere... Grab the 01 service manual from the faq section here, and I think there are some troubleshooting steps for no bus in there.

So how did you know to check the plenum issue? Did you learn that hre on DF?

If so, that's great!

But how did you miss this....? Unless you just want to toss extra money out the window, you can go this route and save about half the prive!

Yes I had no clue about the plenum issue until I joined the forum. It is a huge help! And as for the plenum fix kit.....it's already on order from Hughes.
