Thats not necessary...if you can't stay on this particular topic please just don't post. A problem with these internet forums (aside from internet (only) educated "mechanics") is having to wade through numerous irrelevant posts to read a shred of on-topic info.

He has a point though..... If you wanna go with larger tires, (35+) the 44's just aren't going to cut it. You could probably find a front D60 for less than what you would spend to convert the 44 to eight lug.....

OP have you checked Rock auto? I think they have all the parts from the flange out that you would need to do the conversion.

Yeah looked at rockauto they have it all. The only bad thing is the generic or stock photo's that most sites use. Actually ebay is a good place to find the rotors.
I found a seller on ebay that even acknowledges the LD44 in the rotor description as 8 lug/D44/3500gvw/2500 truck, but generic photo.

Maybe. But that's kind of why I started the thread, to try and gather some info on the topic for me and others who may be interested.

There are already enough axle vs. axle debates and opinions.

I'm thinking about ordering a rotor and hub assembly and mocking it up. I wouldnt be out too much money or time. I haven't had time to look on mine yet but is the abs ring incorporated in the hub assembly?

Ooooh if you have 4 wheel abs this probably won't work. I don't think any of the earlier 2nd gen's (to include any of the LD 2500's) had 4-wheel abs.

I think it was an option, so, the parts should be available, but they shore as shootin' ain't gonna be anything even remotely resemblin' "inexpensive"......

Hub http://www.am-autoparts.com/Dodge/Ra...82/380722.html $52

Rotors http://www.ebay.com/itm/FITS-DODGE-R...ht_1490wt_1189 $77

This is a hub for a 95 and abs http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=1120007 $146

Raybestos hub rockauto says for 2 wheel abs http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=1288199 $131

Now the last ABS Jeep I had I took it out anyways. I don't necessarily have to have it on this truck. But if I do want to keep it (if this swap is even performed, like I said its just a discussion) it's still cheaper to do this than a front dana 60 swap (average of $600-$800 just for the take-out axle if you can even find one locally, not including the cost of refreshing, general "maintenance," and post-swap alignment - as opposed to an already installed and aligned axle - involved in using a salvage axle.)

Keep it mind for me at least, This truck isn't for any kind of 4-wheeling, I run 315's, I upgrade and play around with the truck because I like working on it. I picked the D44 for kickball first in school just to make the D60 feel awkward, etc.

$600-800 just for one axle??? Much better deals than that are out there... Check this out. This dude just got a 60/70 set for $400 with suspension.

That's a great deal around here...In the small mountain towns in western NC, they are hard to come by. Funny thing is driving around today I passed a 2500 Ram with the 8 lug 9.25 /44, but i wasnt able to stop and look at it. They do exist!
