OKAY, I took out the actuator motor. I opened the motor, and everything looks good inside of it. Now, when I loosened the last screw, the actuator motor as well as that black plastic piece dropped out into my hands. There was another wobbly part that the black plastic piece fits into that never came out. 1) Is it supposed to? 2) This black plastic piece only has 1 tiny crack in it. It's so small, that I can't even take my hands and try to pry the crack loose or even try to open it, so I'm assuming it's just a seam-line for when they produced this piece. Now what do I do? Can you guide me "HeyYou"? Thank you!

The bent screwdrivers have been used, also, some folks have notched the carpet a bit there, for better access.

This black plastic piece has the TINYEST TINYEST EVER hairline scratch on it. This will cause the problems? What about that metal piece that is hanging from the heater after removing the accuator motor?

The part on the box should be the axle for the blend door, work it back and forth by hand, and make sure the door hasn't simply separated from the axle.... (yeah, unfortunately, it happens....) If that seems ok, I would still replace the coupler.... since you have it apart anyway.... There are downloadable instructions for installing everything from the heatertreater website, I would suggest you grab those for putting everything back together, to ensure it works right.....

Not sure the 98's have it??? Never have been able to discover just what year the change occurred...

If you have one, it will be on the bottom of the heater box, just to the passenger side of the trans tunnel. If you see the axle for the blend door poking out of the box there instead, (and it doesn't stick out very far.....) then yours is cable operated.
