Exclamation WTH is this?

I decided to change out all the visible vacuum lines inside my '96' 2500 5.9 diesel w/220K. All went well until removing the vacuum line to this part. It sits on top of the drivers side wheel cowling. Removing the clip clamp saw me break off the hard plastic connecter from the top of this part. It was removed from the wheel cowling, part #'s were offered up to a couple of chain parts stores with no results. One in particular called a Dodge dealer with the #'s and came back empty. After removing it, in transit to each parts store there was an oil substance that ran out of the hole where the vacuum line had been attached. I hope this pic is clear enough to finger out what I'm dealing with. Who knows?

Default Thx Stew,,,had to be resent via girlfriends computer

The part I'm talking of is the oiled piece of rectangular metal. You can see the electrical plug coming from the firewall. The broken plastic piece is sitting in the middle on top. Under the flat metal is a cylinder a bit smaller than a hockey puck. I know there are some sharp folks on here. Chew my hind end about using too much force if you will. I don't want to run without that vacuum line attached.

Picture is too small for my tired old eyes....

Can you take a closer photo, upload to photobucket.com and then copy the "IMG" link on photobucket pic, and then "paste" that text into post. Maybe that will make it easier to identify then. At least for near blind fools like myself!

Also, you can you get a closer shot of the item, as the first photo shows us where it is located?

Default Good gawd that is a small pic.

Sorry about that Glenn, and the rest of us with over 50 eyes. I didn't realize how small it is. I'll take one or have the younger visioned girlfriend take one of just the part.
