The 1st pic has the compressor mounted to a bracket that mounts to the pre Magnum engines. The following bracket is one I think I picked up for a big block.

Ironic you should say that, because when I have the time and some extra cash I plan to take it to the next level.

I want to insulate the side brick walls with a 2x2 structure and drywall. Paint it white or light grey with a blue belt stripe. Brighter florescent lighting. Mount a 42" TV in the upper corner, epoxy coat the floor, paint all the engine stands and hoists a nice clean blue and replace all the wheels with rubber or nylon castors.

I want to build a duplicate bench to the one I have, clean and paint them, and integrate some sort of bench top pad that is removable and washable...like an oil mat of some sort. Up until now I have been stapling old towels to the replaceable plywood surface.

The pegboard backing is going to get framed in trim and painted with the rest of the garage and I'll purge all the unused tools to make room for more tools I plan on getting between now and then.

To me, a garage / work area needs to be clean and organized. It makes jobs to quick and easy when you have quick access to all tools and everything is fast to put away when they all have their own spot.

 

At one time, I had an old Stainless Steel lab table that I used as a bench. I WISH I still had that......

 

My work bench is angle iron that's welded together. I have a lower shelf and an upper surface. Both are made so that 4'x2' pieces of plywood drop right in so I can remove them if and when they get damaged. I cover them with something soft and absorbent.

The lab tables are cool but very loud. Also, slippery, when fluids are involved...which in my garage is fairly often.
