Default Catalytic Converter

Hey everybody, Noticed awhile back that the 8th spark plug was clogged beyond belief in my truck... Did some reading later while researching blown plenum gasket and found that it can cause the cat to go bad. So I am wondering what your opinions are on this: I am planning to just remove the cat and replace it with straight pipe before it goes bad, cause it will go bad at the worst time (Murphy hangs around us alot). What do you think? Thanks, Keagan

There's nothing wrong with that, you just need to do the o2 non fouler trick.
And as long as you don't need the cat for inspections your all set.

And here's the how-to, just looked it up 'cause I forgot how to do it: https://dodgeforum.com/forum/3rd-gen...ving-cats.html

What is the non-fouler trick? We don't have to pass smog tests or anything like that. I assume it will be a little louder, right?

Just edited my first post to include the link to the how-to.
The non fouler gets rid of CEL that come with removing the cat.
Also tricks the PCM into thinking the cat is there and working.
And yes it'll be louder, especially if you have an aftermarket muffler.

Just how much louder will it be, though? We still have the OEM muffler, nice quiet rumble from it.

Sorry, I couldn't tell ya from experience cause Ive never done it. But if you still have the good ole giant muffler under there it shouldn't be too loud I suppose.

Thanks everyone. That is a pretty smart trick for the O2 sensor!

Well, I just went out to look at my cat and it has two pipes going to the front and it has a sensor of sorts up there. How can I put a y into the exhuast so that it is one pipe and what would the sensor be for? Thanks.
