To tell you the truth hey you I was so upset when I took the pan down that I didn't think about taking pics the pan was FULL and I mean full of metal shavings. After I saw that with the problems I was having I just wanted to get my truck back up and running now to start treating this truck like it should have been treated.

Dakota trans problems
Sorry for the delay in responding, here is my update. Replaced the governor pressure solenoid an transducer. Also replaced filter, fluid an adjusted bands. Truck Is a 2002 Dakota 3.9 with 96,000 miles fluid looked good an no burnt smell. Put back together road tested and everything worked great, up and down shifted properly. Next time out problem is back!? But the original code was P1756 now I am getting code P0748? I have not found any wiring issues yet, can someone give me more ideas? Is there any way to test PCM?

Thank you for responding. PCM connections looked good, the Trans relay connection is not going to be easy to get to but I will try again. Odd thing is if I start the truck in neutral the trans shifted fine at least during the five mile road test? I may spray the PCM connections anyway just is case some coating is on the pins that I can't see.

try to unplug the oxygen sensor before the cat that is the main power source for the transmission and if the sensor is shorted it will display 1756 if while unplugged it shifts fine replace the sensor and you will be good to go

Trans shift problem
Have not done or found anything since my last post, trans still shifts fine until you make your first stop, then will not shift automatically? But, all you have to do is restart it and I can drive it all day and it shifts like it should. You can turn it off for hours and it will still shift fine but let it set overnight next day same thing, I drive to the first stop sign turn it off then restart, I'm good to go all day.
I will check to oxygen sensor like you suggested.

had my tranny rebuilt and the guy did a great job. check enine light was on before trans mission went out. got the tranny back in checked the codes for the light and it came up 1762 and 1763 changed the gov. sensor and solenoid out and this set of codes went out . But now have a p0748 showing. checked the trans relay under the hood. traded the horn relay with the trans relay. Relays numbers were the same for each. tranny will not down shift. looked up the code. i dont know where the control and shift solenoids are. the guy who did the rebuild is on vacation in FL. for about a month!!!! lucky guy!!! any ideas??????
