Restoration of My Dodge
Excellent thank you...im thinking of going with a camo layout for my fabrics...ive seen it done on this site and sinces the truck will be used for hunting and hauling my Snowmobile for ice fishing i think it will be a good layout....
As for a custom dash i have it figured out but im not saying anymore about it...my idea will work and i dont want anybody to use my design ive planned until ive done it...lets just say it will be a bonus for ill be doing a diy write up for it....wont cost much and will look awesome...i have it pictured in my head i just hope i have enough room...that would be the only issue....cant wait

Ugh i may not get the door this week...i drove past a yard sale and they had a 2 ton engine jack....id love to have one they want $75 for it and its in great shape...unfortunatly the wife is working and i have to discuss it with her tonight...if i get the ok im going to try to talk them dow to $50-60....hopefully it will still be there tomorrow...
Well after watching car warriors i have a nice idea im going to do AFTER i have the truck done and back on the road ..a custom dash with all mechanical guages...anyone attempt this? I already have a volt, tach, and oil psi mechanical gauge so why not put them to use i got them for free...
So if anyones done this could you post pics? I think its a great idea because mechanical gauges are more accurate so ill know real numbers from my motor

Well ill give a little info of what my plan is...i am going to take some durable sheet metal and cut it into the shape of the original cluster and just drill holes where the factory screws would go...but im going to have to take the sheet metal to a machine shop so they can cut the holes for the guages...and im just going to wire everything to the factory harness that plugged into the original cluster ...i know im going to have to get a pillar pod to fit more gauges because im going to have tach, speedo, volt, oil, trans temp, water temp, air fuel ratio, and obviously fuel....going to be tough but its doable
Oh yea i always wear my mechanix gloves when working on cars...reason being at one of the first garages i worked at it was family owned and the owner was 63...and due to all the years of haveing oil and such on his hands he has nerve damage on one of his hands and it cant be treated...thats what he told me at least...
And im having a hard time finding the fabric i want, the camo, might have to go with just black
