Its the year thats an issue. You need the 94 manifolds on the motor, intake and exhaust. Then dont forget the flexplate and torque converter otherwise that motor will destroy itself.

he'd be 10 times better off to replace a 5.2 with a 5.2 and be driving it within a couple of days instead of still ****ing with it a month later trying to get it to run.

This is being way overcomplicated.

The swap will work just fine. Basically, you will want to use the 2001 5.9 as a long block assembly ONLY. This means use the intake, exhaust manifolds, sensors, and accessories from your 5.2. Use the flex plate as well as the balancer from the 5.9. You may need a 2001 torque converter as I believe the 94 has one hole asymmetrical from the others.

The 5.2 PCM will run it just fine, OBD I is a lot more forgiving than the OBD II systems are and you won't notice any detrimental effects.

Is the computer different for the 5.2 & 5.9 or just the chip
