I have a 99 with a 5.2.
I have had a new PCM intalled recently. I have 250,000 miles on this engine, and could use a little more midrange poop out of it. Like between 50 and 70 mph. Do the chips really work? Ive been reading lots about em...but all from Manufacturers point of view....and hows about the cold air intake....really worth it?

get the SCT TUNER from hemifever. not the chips

 

Definitely sct all thoes chips are garbage. Aftermarket intakes pull air from the same place. Minuscule gains if any. Its one of the last things on my list. When I get one it will be mostly for sound.

in Texas, no such thing as cold air in the summer, no matter where its pulled in from, and under hood is under hood in my eyes.

I am thinking about rigging up some sort of homemade ram air into the stock intake...just haven't done it yet.

I ditch my intake tube in the winter though, run's pretty well too.

CAI dont do squat...period. The only difference is they create what some people would call an annoying noise. lol let me put it all out here for people who say they think they work...this goes for the volant CAI as well, although, that does have somewhat of a "ram" effect, it certainly doesnt get cold air. reason is this and its quite simple:

by the time your so-called "cold air" gets to where it needs to ignite to begin with, its already been heated by the intake manifold. thats about it. the only improvement to be had about that is a new intake manifold like an air-gap. where the intake runners are separated from the base of the manifold and where they go directly to the injectors. and dont say that CAI's get "better air flow" either. i'll be proned to slap a keyboard across your face lmao jk

a good upgrade is a k and n filter that goes into the stock air box, its already pulling air from the fenderwell
