Default 2000 Ram 1500 stereo issue

The other week I was driving and the left side speakers stopped working, then the next day or two the right side went out. The head unit still lights up and is functional as far as controls go. I pulled it out and the wiring looks fine and even went to a u-pull place and tried other head units and still there was now sound output. I have check all of the basic fuses that might have caused the issue. Anyone have any ideas, could it still be the head unit?

If you have factory installed tweeters then you have the infinity system, which has an external amplifier. Cheapest thing to do is rip it out and buy a aftermarket radio and wire the speakers directly to your new stereo.

I do not have the infinity system, but I have heard that some have that amplifier anyway. I couldn't find it, I looked between the stereo and the passenger side air bag, which is where I heard it might be but didn't see it. Could it be located somewhere else?

I've never heard of the amp behind the glove box and not saying that isn't the case, however, the other place to consider is that the amp is part of the front door speakers. The amp powers both the front speaker and tweeter.

figured i'd piggy back off this thread so i wouldn't have to start another one

anyway, i have the infinity sound system in my truck. however, after installing a stereo today (and my speakers worked prior to taking the old one out) my front door speakers and tweeters stopped working. only my rear speakers work. i thought, ok, must be the stereo (its used) so i swapped the front speaker output pins with the rear speaker pin receivers to test and make sure it wasn't the stereo, and i was getting sound...so the stereo output is working properly.

i have had problems with the front speakers working before, but it seemed to work itself out over the years. regardless, i tore the door apart and got the speaker out. the stock speakers have 4 wires going to them. the two center wires, i was getting continuity through, however the two outside wires, i was not.

i'm honestly not a A/V guy, so i really have no idea what could be the problem.

any input is appreciated! thanks!
