Cool leveling kits and shocks

Maybe you guys can help.....I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 ST SWB Reg Cab 5.2 4X4 w/3.55 gears. I have a factory 3" lift and I want to put a leveling kit with 2.5" on the front and 1.5" on the back. Do I need to change out the front coilovers and shocks as well as the rear shocks? If so does anyone know the proper shock length with suggestions on shock brand? Thanks to all who reply.

Factory 3" lift??? If you have an Off Road edition truck, they came with a 2" higher ride height than their standard half ton brethren. Aside from that.... no optional lifts on them that I was aware of.

If it already has 3" of lift, to go any more, you will need to also replace the control arms in front.

Default Yeah suprised me also

I bought the truck brand new and no one pointed it out to me. At a festival a guy showed me I had 3" blocks on the rear of the truck. So I started digging and its a 3" lift straight from the factory. My truck is NOT a sport. It does have the Dana front end and Corporate rear end. Everything under my truck is HD except for my 318cid.

Thanks for the info. Its much appreciated. Ill check into it.

Mine is stock and has a 3" block in the rear. I put a 2" HBS level on the front and still use stock length shocks with no problem.

Rides the same. I put them in for the level look and for a little more clearance with the plow.

Why are you putting 1.5" in that back? Are the leafs sagging alot? My 2" spacers up front don't even level the truck, the front is still low by about 1"...If I put 2.5" spacer up front and 1.5" more out back, it would not be level. The rear would sit about an inch higher. Unless your looking to have the rear sit higher for towing (or loading the bed) purposes?

It's recommended to get 1-2 inch lift shocks for the front, and probably the same for the rear. I'd call whoever you order from (or the manufacturer) to see if they can guide you better.

And are getting a 4.5" tall block, adding a 1.5" AAL, or stackin' 1.5" block on top the the factory one? The first two options are best..

Matt I talked to a few people today and from what they said its just best to get the 2-2.5 in the front and leave the rear alone. I dont need it for towing purposes because I dont pull trailers like I used to. The leaf springs arent sagging. That was suggested to me by the first guy I went to for the lift. If I would go with the 4.5 I would just get the 4.5" block. I wouldnt stack. That could be costly if not done properly.

Thanks for the feedback.

The blocks in the back aren't a lift. Those are stock, and provide the stock ride height.
