Default 99 Dodge Ram Whining Noise

Hi guys, I've searched the forum for answers but haven't quite found any. I have a 99 Dodge Ram 4x4 Sport with the 5.2L Engine (118,XXX Miles) when I accelerate I can hear a whining noise coming from under the truck. I believe it may be from the transmisson, but not 100% sure. The truck does it through all gears and MPH's until it hits 45-50 and shifts into OD, then it planes out, and the noise goes away. What could it be? Fluid is good, filter is new, and it shifts smooth. The noise is driving me CRAZY!! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I checked the fluid in the T-Case as well, and all was fine there too. Any other suggestions?

Drop the rear driveshaft, pull the tail housing off the t-case, and make sure the snap ring that hold the output shaft in place is still there. (common failure.)

I'll be sure to check that. I wasn't aware of that being a possible issue. Thanks!

It that looks ok, might wanna pick up fluid/filter, (ATF +4 only please) and drop the trans pan, see if there is anything 'interesting' in there. Fluid and filter change sure won't hurt either way.

Very true, however I was just in there 250 miles ago. Trans Pan was leaking so I did a filter, and fluid change. Pan is still leaking though, so I have to drop it again anyway. >:/

Rdally sounds like a fluid issue...you are checking the fluid while its running in neutral right? Park does not give an accurate reading
