Default boosting my 5.9

So ive spent the last week or so googleing trying to find some answers.

I want to boost my 1500. Ive read that you cant because i dont have a return fuel system. Ive read ill need a fmu, ive also read thati can simply buy biggsr injectors and a custom tune from Sct, and a bigger fuel pump.read an article and watched a vid of a guy running stock internals getting 560rwhp with stock injectors using a fmu and a auxiliary njector in the air hat.

My question is, can i really boost my truck using bigger injectors and a tune? And what turbo should i use? was told to use the turbo from a 5.9 cummins, im looking for the 450hp mark. Any input is appreciated

Just rolled 150k. But its being rebuilt with a stronger crank and h rods in the next year. Also, i plan on porting and polishing the heads, but dont have the tools to recut valves. Any idea of a place i can send my heads to have bigger valves put in? Or are there any heads off another engine that flow better that will fit my 5.9?

Guess you didn't spend much time on your search, info on Magnum heads is on every Dodge forum out there. In any event, don't bother spending ANY money on stock heads.
And, you will need a 4bbl intake manifold, bigger TB, better exhaust etc etc etc..If staying 360, the stock crank is fine, as are the rods...It's the stock pistons that don't like boost.

Oh, and add a built transmission to the list.

Where to start? Returnless system is fine, you're injectors just lose some potential because of the pressure differential with boost. IMO, both FMU and SCT tunes for boost are hack but have been done. Stock motor is fine provided you a have a good tune (good luck with FMU or SCT). Kegger manifold sucks, get rid of it. CTD turbo is way too small. The 560hp truck you're thinking of was a 5.2 5 speed Dakota, and was more like 500 because he was using a huge correction factor that doesn't really apply to turbo motors, it also had aftermarket heads and a boost friendly cam. But yeah, the stock bottom 5.9s have made north of 600hp.

Should of clarified. My searching was on what it would take to put on the turbo, not heads. Exhaust is already done from cat back, will be getting headers and so on. I know on my gti i had the maf had to be tricked to allow more then stock boost. Anyone know if this needs done or is that something the flash from sct can deal with?

The reason i was going with sct for a tune is 1) i would have to get something like megasquirt, which i read is a pain in the **** to use with stock guages,2) i dont know of any shops in my area i would trust to tune a MS.

If the turbo from the cummins is too small, what is a good ar to start. Ive read to go with a .72 or something like that. One guy said he used two turbos from a wrx. Any thoughts?

Megasquirt works with my stock gauges and a few other are as well, it's not really all the hard. Take some time to read up on it and you can tune it yourself. Any good shop should be able to tune it, it's a VE and ignition table like any other standalone. A T70 would be a good place to start for your power goals. A/R depends on where you want it to spool and make best power.
