Are Air Dams Necessary?
Hey guys,
I took my air dam off about a month or so ago off my 2001 Ram 1500.
I was just wondering if it's a bad idea taking it off. I think the truck has a better looking stance with it off, but I don't want to cause any type of damage to the radiator.

Only damage is supposedly worse gas mileage. I doubt there's any noticeable difference though. But a jet chip from ebay & a throttle body spacer will get your MPGs right back up there, plus all the HP you gain..
But seriously, plenty of people take them off with no side-effects. I'm sure you're no exception.

Air Dam doesn't make a damn bit of difference on a truck.......
That depends on what color the truck is and if it has power seats.

On a side note, the air damn does nothing for the radiator as it sits above the cross member anyway. Things like the tranny lines, crank pulley and front of oil pan (amongst other things are slightly more exposed to a direct hit by something(rock for instance). But I don't have one, (plow mount) and have not had any probs.
