Default after market gas saving mods?

Ive seen ads about performance chips boasting 4-7 mpg improvement and myths of reprogramming the computer in my truck to do everything to add more torque, mpg, or speed. Driving like gramps is giving me about 13 mixed but I'm curious.

Do aftermarket modifications exist that actually CAN AND WILL boast my mpg without sacrificing power?

Short answer, no.

Long answer, no. But there are mods to increase HP and torque. 13mpg is pretty good for a stock 1500 4x4.

A nice free flowing exhaust from intake to tailpipe. Fix the plenum issue (if it's necessary) and replace or gut the clogged/clogging catalytic converter, and new O2 sensor.

But Jimmythefan is right, 13mpg is pretty good, but there are a few members here that claim much high number's while driving like grandpa......

Increased hp, mileage and torque is easy http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes

Want even more hp, better mileage and torque? There's an answer for that http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes

X2. Or,

1) Buy a 4-banger for a daily driver
2) Don't drive a Ram with a lead foot

Trucks haul more cargo per ton-mile more efficiently than any passenger car can. That's what one should think about rather than gas mileage.

ill kill over before i get rid of my truck, ive just heard alot of noise about good gas mileage and sought out to see if there were any validity in any of it. I mean, who wouldn't want better mileage, especially in a RAM

I avg 14.8 mixed driving. Stay out of overdrive if you are under 55mph it helps. Other than that a good tuneup and small light tires is all you can do.

I can say if you add a cai and electric fans you could get close to same mpgs and wont really have to drive like a grampa as bad
