Check fluid level in neutral before you do anything else.

If it is OK, then check connector on the driver side of tranny to make sure it is tight. Check and see if it shifts.

If it still does not shift, get a filter kit, drop pan and see what is in there. Remove filter and then pull the solenoids to see if there is crud on them.

You can download service manual in the FAQ/DIY section. Trans section is very good.

Post back what you find.

Yup, Governor solenoid most likely. Replace it one of these. And remove the Gov. body and clean it as well. http://www.doghousediesel.com/catalog/i307.html

aaaah.....check it anyway. It would be good for you to know what consition the tranny may be in, and a filter change never hurt a tranny.

Id do a fluid/filter change regardless because we dont have the best trannies....when i bought mine tranny was just rebuilt and the fluid didnt smell burnt and looked clean...changed it anyway...id recommend it because of this...

I took on water once and my truck wouldnt shift out of first and was slipping and grinding...i drove it 12 miles home and after draining/change filter and run through gears 5 times she was good...that was about 20k ago and havent had any problems since.....so if mine was stuck in first and slipping and new fluid and filter fixed it it might fix yours but seriously id do it no matter what and you Must use atf+4....

Also search on this forum about band adjustments...that could be off too

Don't adjust bands yet. Look what is ther first. Symtoms of bands out of adjustment is slippage. And when it slips is indicator of which band.

Sorry for the hijack. Mine is almost doing the samething. No CEL at all and when its cold no problems but after awhile it will start to act up. It will also if I have the O\D shutoff it will not turn back on. Mine only has 62k and has had the fluid and filter changed 8k ago.

Your issue is different. Go to FAQ/DIY section and download service manual. Check trans section troubleshooting and see what most closely describes your problem. Suspect solenoids are gummed up. Incorrect pressure reading will prevent from going into OD.
