Thumbs up thinking about going to 33's and new rims need advice!!

well just finished putting my lvling kit on my truck couple days ago, My dodge is an 01 1500 4x4 ext cab. i put 2.5 spacers up front. I'm sitting a tad bit "bulldog" about a half inch taller up front. cant decide if i like it or not, ill put pics of it up tmrw night to get some opinions. well pretty much i want to fill up my fender wells with some 33's. im looking into getting new rims also, im gonna go with steel wheels because the cheapness of them. im not sure if i want to go with a 16inch wheel or a 17 inch, width wise im looking to be around 8-10 inchs, and not sure on back spacing either. i want them to stick out a little but i still want some tire under the tuck. tire wise i want 33's not sure of the actual p2xx/xx/rxx size though? if i go with a 8 inch wide rim im looking for a 10 inch ish wide tire and if i go with a 10 inch wide rim im looking for around a 12inch wide tire, or would a 10 ich wide tire look good on a 10 inch wide rim?

just looking to hear other peoples opinions!!
also would my stock gear ratio be fine? i drive my truck daily around 45-65mph ish

thanks for reading and hope to hear some opinions!!! ill have pics up tmrw night!!

I can answer one part of it for you, my 285's are 33's and I have no lift/leveling kit and rarely get any rubbing. You can do a google search for tire calculator and come up with websites where you can punch in your size and it will give you the deminsions of the tire. Personally I don't think going to anything more than an 8 inch for a tire size is worth it, but again that's just me!

I ran my 33's with stock gearing for a couple years. Its fine unless you are towing. I also have a leveling kit.

285/75/16 is a 33/10.5
285/70/17 is a 33/10.5
305/70/16 is a 33/12.5
305/65/17 is a 33/12.5

go with whatever you feel comfortable with. most of us guys run the 285's on stock rims. 305's would work on stock rims too, but pushing it.

How wide are your tires and what size is your rims? Also what size lvling kit did you go with?

Backspacing of 4.5" is just about right for stick out imo.

Perfect for a 7-8" wide rim, for a 10" wide 5.25" is as close as I could find to centre the rim on the hub, I did see others but they put the wheel way out. I don't "think" a 10" wide will clear with just a levelling kit.

Good reference for him on the rim width. I can't imagine he'd go that wide.

Here's an old picture showing 4.5" BS with 33x12.5x17 MTZs. 2" leveling spacer should handle you just fine.
