is there any possibility that the seafoam passed through the engine and did something to clean or de-foul the cat ?

i don't see how seafoam in the engine could make it run better. carbon buildup is unattractive, but unless its preventing a valve from closing or a ring from sealing, i don't see how it can affect the engine.

Cat was gutted.

My guess is, the seafoam cleared a bunch of the carbon deposits off the valves, so they are sealing better now.... not to mention, getting that crap out of the way also promotes airflow....
