O/D light then trans temp light.
good day all just found these forums and having problems with my uncles truck which i drive more then he does.
not alot of time to introduce myself but i'm a durango owner.
now i'll cut to the chase the truck is an 01 ram 4x4 EXT cab long bed just over 100,000 miles, 5.2L
i was on my way to a job interview (perfect timing) when i notice the od off light come on i was fumbling around a little and though i knocked the button, when it didn't turn off i thought hmm sensor or switch i'll check it out later. about a mile after that the trans temp light came on, pulled over ASAP shut the truck off let it cool awhile drove it to a rest area no problems no lights had wife pick me up left truck there till traffic thins out. i was in dress clothes so really couldn't monkey with it . checked the fluid it seems clear and full. shifts fine too. could it be the trans temp sensor? also the check engine lights been on for at least the last 3-400 miles but steady no flashing. asked my uncle if this ever happened before no was the answer.
your thoughts?

pull the CEL codes by doing the key trick: on - off - on - off - on
read the codes in the odometer window.
you need to change transmission fluid and filter. use ATF+4 only and no additives.
as said, remove and drill out the check valve. reinstall.
its under the hood, passenger side frame rail. brass looking fitting about 1-2 inches long at the transition of trans cooler line from hard line to rubber hose.

thanks for all the info i think i'm gonna like it here! trucks still in a parking lot going to get it later and most likely won't do anything with it till monday i'll do the key thing and report back. meanwhile i think i'll surf around here alittle.

Watch the check engine light carefully to make sure you get the right code....just get the codes and post them...i know what the numbers are am im sure mant others here know too
Youll see it flash flash, small pause flash flash flash....that would be code 23...when you see flash x5 small pause flash x5 that just means end of codes.....pretty simple just amake sure you get the right codes
