Default 97 Ram 1500 4x4 shocks

New to the forum & need some help
Just purchased a 97 Ram 1500 4x4 w/3" lift and I am having some issues finding shocks for the 3" lift. I am going with some Rancho RS7044 for the front, and RS7274 for the rear. Still up in the air if these will work. One Rancho Tech says no, another says they will work.
If anybody has any suggestions they would be very much appreciated.

Not sure why you're having a problem or where you are looking. A 3 inch lift is pretty standard and shocks are easy to come by. Your local 4x shop should be able to order any brand you want.

personally i idnt like rancho shocks, i love my bilstein 5100s though. they will work for a 3" lift, i had them on mine with a 6" lift in back and 6" lift in front & leveling kit so like 9" in front.

Thanks for your replies. I know the 3" lift is pretty much standard. I did see the Bilsteins, I read some reviews that said the ride was mushy. I also seen a few others like Ruff Country and Tuff Country the shop I ordered the Rancho from told me these were junk. I was looking at a few other brands and when I tried using their on line application tool there wasn't an option for any kind of lift.
I guess when I posted here I wanted to see what shocks were being used by others.
Thanks again for the input.

I had TrailMaster SSV on mine for a while and liked them. I then went to Bilstein 5150 and they seem pretty good too. Next time I think I'll go to the Rancho RS9000XL.

Just make sure you get a nitro and not a hydro shock.

I just removed the Skyjacker shocks from my truck and installed the Bilstein 5100 what a difference, stay away from the Skyjacker shock junk.

Well shocks are the leaste of my problems after what I just found.
Been needing to Jack the front up to see what was causing all the side to side drifting when going down the road. Found the passenger side axle shaft U-joints going out along with the track bar ball joint and wheel bearing. Looks like I have my work cut out for me.

I replaced my shocks last week, I went with Rancho RS7000. Total change in the ride, I still have my work cut out changing the axle shafts, hubs and bearings, and other front end and suspension parts. This should get me through the winter since I only drive 8 miles each way to work.
