Lightbulb Driving Issue, Tranny? or something else?

Ok 2 weeks ago, my Dodge Ram 1500 [1995] 360 started to over heat on a normal day and oil pressure dropped to 10 and dip to 0 several times.

It had been going from 40lbs to 20lbs from time to time, but always drove fine.

so I got it home, change the oil pump, new oil filter and oil screen. Drove it around the block couple times worked great. No leaks .

So today is the first day I drove on the main roads, I drove it 2 miles to a local restaurant, while in the drive thru. It started to bog or act funny in gear.

Temp gauge went to 220 or so, normally 180-190.

So I parked it went inside and ate lunch instead, letting the truck cool off. I go outside 15 minutes later, temp is down, but now truck does not want to move, goes into gear (it seems) but moves sluggish, like it only wants to go 5 miles a hour, reverse is the worst. I checked the tranny fluid in gear while running, not sure if it was hot enough but it was on the dip stick.

So what do you pro's think??

Probably clogged cat from blown plenum. Remove the O2 sensor from the exhaust, and see if it runs any better.

Thank you Sir, I got the truck from my Dad a year ago, and he got the truck from my brother before that. Always drove great, but now that you mention that , the CAT always had a rattle , you could hear it from sitting beside a building like a drive thru.

I'm about ready to cut that CAT off and add Pipe..

Hope it works, but will do the O2 sensor check first.

Have not checked the O2 sensor yet, but I did bang on the CAT with a rubber mallot and the truck drove home great i only took it up to 65mph, only had 2 miles to get back home.

So CAT is coming off this week, straight pipe is going on, hope the exhaust place can take a 2 in and single out cat to a Y

More likely clogged cat....unless engine is revving high. Clogged cat will make it runnhot as well - until it cracks the head...
