need advice: trading dakota for a ram
so in the past few weeks i've been getting bored of my truck after having it for a little over a year and a half. its just too small for me on the inside which sucks because you can only seat 1 person comfortably. especially after riding in my buddies ram which is just huge compared to the dakota. i was coming back from the hs football game last night, had 2 other ladies with me and of course my shifter would bash the girl in the leg with the zero leg room that there is in the middle lol.
i decided to put a ad on craigslist for ****s and giggles to see if i would actually get any offers: http://york.craigslist.org/cto/3252547365.html
keep in mind that mine only has 113k
i have gotten two offers in the past week for a straight trade. i have yet to look into them further for more info based on just the fear factor of getting rid of my truck with nothing wrong with it at all for joe smo's truck
2001 dodge ram sport: 165k
just had a jasper tranny put in it, has a leveling kit on the front, 33 in centerline Rims, glass pack exhaust, new radiator, thermastate, temp sensor, new main brake line, front rotors and pads ( this is what i replaced over the few years) its a nice truck has the sport package which is the painted bumpers and the off road edition package as well. Power everything, both back doors open, seats six.
1998 dodge ram cummins 24v: 236k
has fass 150 fuel pump, new 90hp injectors recent within 20k, new vp44 inject pump, quadzilla adrenaline tuner

im thinking there is something fishy about the cummins, you know like to good to be true sorta thing? i mean those were my thoughts too, the thing is sick!
what are areas to look for on the 98 cummins at 238k, im told they run 500k before rebuilds
what are your guys thoughts on the 01 gasser? what to look for at 167k?
i like it too. it came a long way from what it was before, but its just too small inside

I kinda wonder about the Cummins deal too, but who knows.....

Check for blown plenum/bad PCV Valve, worn out suspension parts, particularly the front end, weak a$$ 46RE's, find out if there's been any transmission service... If not, expect to eventually fork out cash on that.....
You could do compression test's on the motor to get an idea what kind of shape it's in. If it's been took care of 167k probably isn't too bad.
Just to name a few things.... I wouldn't expect it to be too much different from your Dakota....

It is a nice truck, hope you get a good deal, whichever you do.

yeah stewie, it has a brand new tranny he says so i figure thats great. since they are known for being bad.
as for the cummins i just dont have enough info yet on it nor has he replied back to me for a couple of days with answers to the questions that i sent him.
unlike the other guy who texted me again this afternoon that has the gasser. i figure either or is nice, since they are both bigger then mine. i would love the cummins based on the pure fact of fuel economy yet i just dont know a lot about diesels.
heyyou, that is definitely something to watch for. so a 53 block is a no go?
