It seems like everyone who has replied is talking about 2nd gen 4x4 with 3rd or newer gen 20" rims on it will work.

I am looking to put 2006 ram 20" rims on my 1998 2x4 ram truck...will this work without any modification?

The 2WD Rams will either need modification to the hubs to make them work or to the wheels. The 2WD Rams have a large cap on the front hubs that don't fit the newer wheels too well.

all you guys with with 3rd gen 20's i noticed when i picked up my set local with rubber for $300 that the lug holes are huge and come to find out i was right are you guys using the stock lugs or did you pickup newer ones with a larger dish???

i measured mine and they are 22mm and i went to Autozone and snagged a set for the 2004 doaner truck to measure there dishes where only 23mm doesn't sound like a lot i just want to make sure that they seat right as i just finished my 1ton diesel coil springs upgrade.

Default 17" Wheels from 07 ram on 98 ram 1500

My truck is a 98 1500 2wd and i needed 1 1/2" wheel spacers to install rims from an 07 ram, I also need to change the dust caps on the bearing hub so that the caps fit on the rims.
