Default never ending brake issues

After replacing 15' of brake line, I get ready to bleed them. Put the wrench on the front caliper bleeder screw and SNAP. Arggggh. I am probably just going to swap out the calipers. I got them from Advance and they have a lifetime warranty. Off to the part store I go....

Just curious how the LD 3/4 Ton calipers and pads are an upgrade. Do they have a different piston bore size to increase efficiency?

Typically, rotor size and pad surface area on said rotor make the most difference...unless the 3/4 ton calipers have more pistons.

The HD 3/4 tons are dual piston, but, won't fit in the brackets. LD calipers have larger diameter pistons. And "LD" is somewhat cryptic in any event, as my 8800GVW 3/4 ton, (which is supposedly an HD) has the single piston calipers.....

So the larger pistons are what give the extra efficiency then. Got it. I'm planning to do myself some Hydroboosters for my Ram and Durango. I'd love to swap some rear disc parts into my Ram like I did the Durango but I can't until I have some larger wheels to fit the larger rotors. I'm toying with the idea of frankensteining some rear brakes using a combination of Durango rear brackets and calipers and Ram front rotors.

What is different? I have the 8800 lbs calipers already.

Oh, whoops. Didn't notice you already had a 3/4 ton truck... I am so used to folks having 1500's......

I was able to just get new bleeder screws from advance for mine, when I broke one off..... since the bleeder already has a hole down it, drilling it out some, and then using an easy out was cake.

I thought about drilling it out and putting a new screw in, but since I oddly kept my receipt from 3 years ago and it is easy enough to swap out, I opted for the easy route. I'll let the rebuilder drill it out.

Ironically, with Autozone, Oreilly, and other chain stores...you don't even need the receipt. They can look up the purchase by your phone number which is how they store and track that information. Generally when you buy a warrantied item they ask for your phone number. I think the same goes for things like batteries so you can get a pro rated discount off of a new battery if the old one doesn't last as long as advertised.
