so how do you do that?
i suppose you start with a very good impact wrench, block the pinion from turning and hammer down on it. how do you tell when you reach the crush point?

do both our Dana 44 front and Chrysler 9.25 use a crush sleeve?
Good reasons to use the Ratech solid spacer, does away with the crush collar. Pinion preload is adjusted by changing shims in front of the collar. A little trial and error till its right, final install with a new pinion nut and red loctite, and you're there. The spacer is the same for the 9.25 and GM. Don't recall the # offhand, but they're about $17.00.

Default I appreciate all the responses. wow!

I have to setup a gogle account to view the one set of attachments but will do soon.
The Billavista instructions are awesome.
I will be using the original diff case.
I wish I had more detail on the bearing puller. It looks easy enough to make one myself. I'm not sure yet if I will be changing out the bearings. Do I have to?

You can reuse your bearings if they're still good. Or you can get a master install kit that will have new carrier and pinion bearings along with crush collar, pinion nut and red loctite for the ring gear for about $150.00.

New bearings give a little peace of mind.

ETA- Also includes ring gear bolts and shims for adjusting pinion depth.

Yeah, working with crush sleeve is little difficult. that is why they provide 2 pcs with master install kit.
You just need a long breaker bar and do it little by little once inner and outer bearings are touching the races.
Longer breaker bar gives you more control of how much you preload the bearings.
And yes, both Dana 44 and Chry 9.25 use crush sleeve design.
I found it is easier to crush the sleeve on Dana 44 than Chrysler differential.
