Modded my Throttle Body today =) Pics included!
It was one of those days where I was looking at my truck and thinking "hmmm I need an excuse to touch it"...so I took an extra throttle body I had & took it on the bench grinder and finished it off with my dads dremel drill. I saved my stock thottle body just incase I'd ever need to put it back on for any reason and swapped all my sensors to the modded one.
Unlike many of the write ups I decided that rear casting by the IAC probably was a waste of time to remove as the throttle body will be pulling air from the right side and that rear casting is not big enough to cause a disturbance. My phone camera sucks, bores look much smoother in person. I also took out the ridges in the bores as well

Also unlike most of the pics I've seen of these throttle body mods I decided that grinding down the screw heads & ends was a great idea for max flow. The two dimples you see on the back of the throttle body bores is actually where the original casting had broken off when I bought a parts motor and the guy I bought it from threw his chain on the throttle body & busted it, I figured if I couldn't remove the dimple effectively I'd at least make both bores match.

I also did not ignore the bottom either

So for anyone wondering what all the 2.5 hours of work was worth..... It provides you with a Sponge Bob Square pants laugh the first time you quick hit 1/8th throttle & churp the tires. I honestly have to try to NOT burnout now, and any amount of gas when turning from a stop sign around a corner is making some sort of noise in the rear tires =) I put the @ss Dyno Approved sticker on this ;-) Laid 6 feet of posi marks on a fast 1/4 throttle hit.

My modding went further than the $165 Hughes throttle body that they sell. I was skeptical I'd feel any difference but for once one of these backyard goof off sessions yielded results.
My trucks always been responsive since the day I bought it, even with its blown plenum & crapped out plugs it roared!, I think some people probably won't see the gains others do because not everyone has the same engine with the same amount of wear & tear or sensors calibrated identically. Prior to the TB mod, my truck had power to burnout all day, with this mod it feels like when I would tromp on the gas in the rain, its that easy to swing the truck out sideways with just a little gas. It really caught me off gaurd last night when I had a coffee in my right hand (97 Ram cup holders don't like to secure Mc D's Large coffee cups!) almost lost my coffee out of my right hand when taking a left hand corner from a stop, wasn't even attempting to spin the tires, got caught in the moment listening to Belinda Carlisle's "Heaven Is a Place On Earth" and the @ss end just swung out roasting the tires.
Its real power I can appreciate and I've made useless things before like throttle body spacers that had me wondering if it did or didn't work...unlike those this actually worked and lived up to the hype.

Fastman modified the throttle bodies by smoothing the bores and replacing the aluminum butterflies with ones of brass.
